Original Music Composition
RULES FOR ORIGINAL MUSIC COMPOSITION
- Create an original music composition based on “A Tatou Korero – Our Stories, Our Voices”
- Lyrics and music must be students own ORIGINAL creation, and be performed by students attending NPEC Schools.
- Original music compositions must be created or recorded using a computer programme (e.g. Garage Band/Pro Tools)
- Real instruments may be connected to the computer.
- Please attach typed or clearly written notes, describing the relevance of your project to the theme. Please include lyrics and some information about the song. These notes will increase the judges understanding of your ICT project.
- Please supply 1 copy of all your schools music entries on CD Rom format.
- Please supply songs on MP3 format only - if you need to convert into MP3 format there are many freeware programmes downloadable from the net –Try www.zamzar.com it seems to do the trick

What is an original music composition?
An original song in which the lyrics and music must be the students own ORIGINAL creation and must be performed by students attending NPEC Schools.
How to make an original music composition?
- Brain storm lyric ideas about the kaupapa
- Compose a melody/ tune to accompany the words of your song.
- Record your song using a computer programme eg. Garage Band etc.
