RULES FOR CLAY MODEL ANIMATION

Create a clay model animation based on Nga Haka me nga Waiata o Ngati Porou
All animations must be no longer than 3 minutes MAX (including any credits). Entries over this time limit will be disqualified.
Clay animations may be created by animating clay or plasticine models created by students. PLEASE NOTE THE CLAY OR PLASTICINE MODELS MUST BE CREATED BY STUDENTS
All animations must be supplied as HIGH QUALITY AVI FILES, MPEG FILES or QUICKTIME FILES.
Please create 1 copy of all your schools animation entries and download to CD, DVD, Memory Stick or Mac-Compatible External Hard-drive.

What is a claymation?

Claymation is the art of making clay figures move, talk, sing, dance or whatever your imagination wants it to do!

Sometimes called plasticine, figures and props are moulded from clay and are then used to tell a story. Using stop motion photography or a series of still pictures taken with a digital camera, the frames are then edited together to produce an animation.

How to make a claymation

Brainstorm your story and characters
Create a Storyboard
Write a Script
Create Clay Figures
Build a Set and Props
Film the animation using photos or video camera.
Using an editing programme like I -Stop Motion , Power Point etc, to make your images move.
Add music and narration.
